Lots of buttons on that thing. A few freinds and I were in Best Buy last week looking at consumer level HD camcorders..seemed the highest rated were the Canons but the Sony model I saw looked quite good when I tested it: High Definition Handycam® Camcorder HDR-CX12 (seems like a great camera at a great price). I guess a concern is using firewire as opposed to USB for uploading….otherwise, the lens and whatever deal you can strike. How you doing in NY? When will you be by here?..

Hey TJ,
I opted for a lovely (and slightly intimidating!) Canon XH A1.
The salesman at B&H (colossal video/photo store in NY) recommended this over my original Sony choice. Can’t wait to see how clearly it’ll capture these illusions that are at the ready. Of course now a faster computer is needed, a better still digital camera……..
